How do I log into Solar Edge app?

From what I understand Tesla is now passing all the data onto solar edge so we no longer need a direct ethernet connection to the inverter.

How do I log into the app? Do I just create an account and enter the serial number of inverter or something like that?

You need to call Tesla energy support and request a SolarEdge account. The account needs to come from your installer, who in this case is Tesla. They will tell you that they will submit a ticket and you will get your account in an email from SolarEdge in a day or two.

Do they do this before PTO?

They did for me, at least.

I called and they said they can't do it until PTO is submitted. They don't have to wait for PTO to be granted, just submitted. The other thing he told me is that once they submit for PTO, they'll automatically create my SolarEdge account with my Tesla login and password. I don't think I believe this because they'd have to know my password and the tesla.com site is using proper security, they won't actually have my password anywhere, just the password hashed and salted.

When they did it for me it was long before my PTO had been submitted, so you might want to try to call back tomorrow and try to get a different rep and ask again.

I also don’t believe that the account will be automatically created or people would be aware of it. When they created the account for me they did use the email address I had on file with Tesla, but then I got an email from solaredge letting me know that the account had been created that had a link for me to set my own password.

Although given the recent changes that now allow the inverters to communicate with solaredge through the zigbee gateway I guess there’s a chance that tesla will automatically create Solaredge accounts for everyone. But I still don’t think it’s super likely.

And just to be clear, you only need to wait for them to request PTO, not to have it granted.
I don't consider my system tested and working properly until I can see panel level production.

I'm still waiting for them to invoice me. I'm on day two since county approval and no invoice yet to pay for the system.

When I called last week and was denied having the request made until PTO was requested, I also sent a support email. Today I got a response saying they will grant me access to SolarEdge provided I agree not to contact Tesla support on SolarEdge portal related issues. They said nothing about PTO needing to be requested first.

After not hearing anything again for another week(two weeks since final inspection passed), I called back my adviser. She basically said they dropped the ball on getting me invoiced. I still haven't seen an invoice, but the interconnection request went out to PGE about 20 minutes after I got off the phone with her.

So even though I'd received a response to my email request to get on the solar edge portal after they told me on the phone that they couldn't do it until PTO had been requested, it's been 6 days since that email response and nothing, so I called back support again today only to be told now that I have to wait for PTO to be granted, not just requested. She wouldn't even check.

So I guess I'm just going to keep calling back until I get someone who will put the request in.

My husband, after we got our PTO and made our final second half payment at the end of October, asked Tesla about getting a Solar Edge Account to view the energy the individual panels were generating. They put in the request for us and my husband mentioned today that he received an email from Solar Edge to complete info setting up his account with them.
