Having seen and read Car and Driver's overview, I was wondering how Tesla forum writers
feel about Tesla's 2-5 year prospects. Why a time bracket 'that short'? Because developments
are going rapidly now that most carmakers have decided to focus on electric cars.

Think of: overall innovation, feel-fit-finish of the cars, Fahrvergnügen, customer satisfaction,
ease of use, appealing design, price/quality, that sort of things, self-driving.

Why do I mention "threat from outside the car industry"?
Because Foxconn, Huawei, Sony and Apple are perceived as newcomers.

Sorry if I happen to leave out quintessential options in your opinion. Feel free to say so.

It takes time to catch up to Tesla.

For example Gm Bolt got into battery issues.

Lucid is nice but much more expensive...

Once others will catch up on techs, production, reliability, pricing... we'll be able to see a clearer picture.

peak tesla has been passed. its all downhill from here.

as one fades, others will rise. (then they will fade, over time). its how life is.

tesla had a reasonable run but their ego is clearly in their way. they show zero signs of changing or fixing that.

always remember: if you stop listening to your customer or think you know better - good luck with that.

Which of the car brands will rise to the occasion?
Will the Chinese munch a big chunk out of the EV market?

all the new electrics will have the feature set that compares to the lane assist and all that.

beyond the assist features, tesla is no closer to level 5 than they were, well, ever. game is over and 'assist' is all you can expect until some new breakthru (like v2x, but no one seems to take that feedback mechanism seriously). having active roadways would also help; again, a feedback loop is needed in this world of chaos.

so, to get assist features, they all will have it in the next few iterations. and it will get better over time and soon it will be a buyable ecu from bosch (etc) and it wont be in-house anymore.

so, tesla was a shining star and they helped move the car industry forward. but they've ... uh .. ran out of gas, it seems ;)

the next youngster(s) will be happy to pick the ball up and move it forward. and they'll have a few years or a decade and then they'll find the new new kid is leaving THEM behind.

the day of chevy and ford owning the car world - over. it will be 'climb - rise - peak - decline - fade' over and over. will take decades but companies wont be in business for 100 years like they used to. this is way too fast moving of an industry, now, and the rules are entirely changed.

I don't think the world is churning as fast as you think. Tesla is just getting started and they will rule the world for a long time.
