How do you start a text conversation?

I understand how to answer a text, but how do you start the text conversation? Manual is not clear (to me) on this??

Hold down the right steering wheel wheel and say “Text John”

I always just do "Hey Siri, send a text message to 'Justin X. Ample' "

That way I don't have to press the steering wheel button and it all goes through the car speakers anyway.

Works for me (John), not everyone!

Same goes for Android phone, @Rothgarr , if configured, with "Hey Google".

How do you stop it reading a nonsense URL character by character? Only thing I found to stop it is the 2 thumb salute.

Yeah no way to kill that BS, hopefully there’s a way in the next update but 2020.12 doesn’t have anything for it
