How is the rear hatch supposed to be aligned

Mine is ever so slightly inset, but I never really noticed it as an issue. I'd still guess it was supposed to be flush, but if it was pushed out further to be flush, the gap at the top of the hatch where the glass is would be too big.

Based on the creases at the bottom L/R of the hatch, it appears to be designed to be FLUSH with the bumper. Mine is recessed quite a bit like it’s being pulled in too far. I’m assuming it should look like this:
