How Long After Purchase To Wait For Autopilot?

I received my Model X on Wednesday, May 10. I'm enjoying it. It has system 8.0.

I know that it has to get some miles on it before Autopilot comes on. I've heard 50-150 miles is common.

But the Delivery Specialist also said that it will have to update to 8.1 before Autopilot will work and that that might take 2 weeks.

I'm 5 days in. I have 1,700 miles on the car. Really. And there is no sign of 8.1 showing up yet. I recognize that I am not yet 2 weeks in and all, but didn't others have some form of Autopilot with 8.0? Did others have to wait 2 weeks for Autopilot to kick in? I'm getting a little frustrated over here and I welcome your thoughts and comments.

Hmmm your delivery specialist should have upgraded to the latest and greatest firmware before he handed the keys to you. Making you wait to get updates over the air is a bit odd.

Take it back, they should have upgraded you before you left. Your AP should be working, and wouldn't need 1700 miles to kick in.

Did you connect to wifi regularly? That helps a bit.

The only reliable way to get the update is to have the service center do it. Otherwise it's a bit random. I agree with others that they should have done it for you.

One argument in their favor would be that 8.0 WAS the latest and greatest on Wednesday. 8.1 came out on Friday. But people on 8.0 had autopilot long before last Friday, so I don't get it.

Correct. I got my X 100 on March 28 and it came with the recently released 8.1

i drove a model s75d loaner (ap2) with 10 miles on the odometer, autopilot started working at around 26 miles...

Have you turned on autopilot in the settings? It's "beta" so you have to manually enable it.

If you don't have the setting, you don't have autopilot, which probably means your car isn't configured in software with it. If you do have it and it has not calibrated, you should get a warning when you double click to engage.

Autopilot was not available in the settings. It is NOW because I got the update tonight. It says that I have version 17.17.17. But a couple hours ago, no autopilot. No summon. No lane warnings. Etc.

But it's all there now!
