McLean Virginia Service Center had two ready for delivery tonight when I was there. Yesterday they delivered a white one and black one...

Ummmm... the difference between 300 and 1,000 is rather large. You're being overly optimistic, especially now that January is here (and therefore the pressure to deliver a meaningful number of cars by the end of 2015 is gone). Tesla will likely slow down and fix all the Model X production glitches that have been reported. Don't expect a rush of cars until Feburary at best. Look at all my previous posts; I've been right every time (and I can't tell you why).
For what it's worth, my DS told me repeatedly (and as late as the week before Christmas) that it was planned I'd have it before the end of the year. The week before Christmas I was one of two that would receive it in the St. Louis center before the end of the year. On December 24, he responded to an e-mail to say that we wouldn't have it delivered until after I returned from my vacation (we returned last night). On December 31, he responded to an e-mail to say that he hoped it would "enter production" soon.
Wha? Enter production?!!
I take everything back I said in the other thread about them keeping you informed. This is really bad. Did you press the DS on the discrepancy between "at the center before the end of the year" to "enter production soon"? Was there any explanation for this?
I asked a few questions, but I'm getting the feeling that DS's simply aren't given any information and must go on what they hear from their managers and/or other internal contacts.
If Amazon can tell me exactly where my $1.62 brass pipe fitting is located in their supply chain, my expectation is that Tesla can tell me the status of my vehicle - when it is scheduled for production (and the date), when it enters production, when it enters testing & inspection, when it enters a truck, when it is getting final prep, and when it is scheduled for delivery. I expect that if something holds up any of these dates, I am informed. It is CRAZY that this technology company is so back-assward when it comes to working with its customers.
