Is door handle issue too common on model S? i wonder which one of you had this issue on your cars and what versions of door handle do you have on yours? Following video describes different versions they have on model s now.
Did you mean to ask how many times have you had door handle issues? im on 2 or 3 now, 2 year old car.
Twice: Front driver's door handle would not retract and would not engage the latch when pulled. Then about a year later the front passenger side door handle would not present. Luckily these both happened when it was under warranty.
When I was Tesla shopping, my understanding is door handle issues were less common after 2015. No issues with doors or handles on our 2019 so far.
2015 70D with 52,400 miles -- 4 repairs or replacements, on 3 different doors. The right rear door handle is the only one that has never been repaired.
Look at my started thread. Brand new under 400 miles. Passenger front malfunction. At least a 2 week wait for parts.
I've fixed 6 , the gear broke, or wire broke off micro switch from rust. 2 widow regulator. 12v battery, complete front rebuild, drilled slotted rotors.
2017, had 2 replaced. under warranty. now out of warranty, no issues yet. But there are enough youtube videos and aftermarket kits that will be permanent fix
12/16 Model S. I had the rear passenger handle go bad. Took like 6-8 visits to get fixed (they kept replacing parts until it finally worked, but on the bright side I now have all four door handles on the 3.0 revision).
