How many people ordered P90D w/ black Onix wheel did not get a vin yet?

See atttached link where forum member got verification from Tesla saying that Black Onyx will delay delivery. The latest news reported on this forum is summer is earliest possible delivery. Also for those waiting for a VIN. No VINS AT ALL have been issued in four weeks. So far VINs have only been issued for cars that have these options:

P90D or P90DL
Premium Option
Auto Pilot Option
no Black Onyx Wheel
other options will not effect delivery time

There are still some with this configuration who have not yet got VIN but all who have gotten VINs have this configuration.
Changing to non-Black Onyx could send you to bottom of your groups list, no one knows.

Not true. See this post from just up thread a ways...
I confirmed a P90DL w/ Black wheels on 12/5 and got a VIN 12/16 VIN in mid 300's.

What I think happened was Tesla originally did not anticipate a delay with the 22" Onyx wheels, so they issued VINs for those vehicles for a couple weeks. Near the end of December they must have realized they could not deliver the Onyx wheels on-time, so they stopped issuing VINs for them. However, those who confirmed early were left in limbo by already having a VIN for a car that was not buildable. It would not surprise me if those early VINs are reassigned by the time they are built since by then they will be extremely far out of sequence.

I agree totally with your first couple of statements but I believe it is not import that the VINs are out of order There are people with VINs in the 100's and 400's both receiving cars this week. Even though they try to keep VIN order I don't think they will reassign VIN.

About a month ago they opened My Tesla up so you could see more information about your car. I think they quickly discovered too much information can be dangerous and they got a lot of calls. Where my account showed a delivery date of 2-7 through 2-13, it now shows "in production" even though my car was delivered to my local SC on Saturday. During inspection on Monday they found a minor problem which they are trying to resolve. I think the information on My Tesla can no longer be trusted.

I also agree.

Well, we just moments ago reconfigured our MX with the 22" Silver Wheels from the previously ordered 22" Black Onyx. There was one main reason - We were uncomfortable not knowing what the actual shade of black would be, and we would have been highly disappointed if we did not like the color once is was delivered. So, we hedged our bet knowing that the silver wheels will definitely look good in our opinion.

I just got a response from my Delivery Specialist about my P90DL with Black Wheels. It was confirmed 12/21/15 I believe. His response to my question was:

"After checking in with theproduction team, I was informed that you are still on track for the originalestimate of delivery in early 2016. Once your car is assigned a build week, Iwill reach out to provide another update."

I am assuming that what shows in the configurator is the delivery estimates for new orders, and has no bearing on previously confirmed orders. Hopefully nothing changes for me!

Maybe I missed it, but do you have an assigned VIN yet?

Hoping you are right! I've had a similar message delivered to me by my DS. BUT Im just not sure they know anything, and I'll be really upset if im told the car is delayed further after being explicitly told it wasn't delayed.

I'm VIN in low 300s, what about you? MyTesla originally said delivery of Jan-early Feb but as of today, I am still not even in production. Given it is mid Feb, not sure how they are going to meet the "early" 2016 estimate, unless early is actually defined by first half of 2016. I confirmed first week of December.

I too was assigned a VIN in the mid 300s with Black Onyx wheels, but have yet to hear anything. Spoke to the DS yesterday, because I was going to change my wheel color and asked about the delay with the Black Onyx wheels. Was told to "to be careful not believe everything you read on the message boards, but that he could not comment one way or another on the wheels." But he told me to just hang in there. My hope is that there will be a "first batch" of Black Onyx wheels that will get delivered to those initial P90D owners that have VINs. But it would really suck if I don't see my car until August/September!!!!

I guess we still have hope. Could you let us know when did you finalize your order?

Maybe the black wheels were a more popular choice than they realized and the first batch just wasn't large enough so those that ordered them early will be fine but those that ordered them once they put the date qualifier up in the design studio will have to wait.

I comfirmed on 1-Jan with the black/onyx wheels and do not yet have a VIN, the initial order must have run out prior to when they posted the date qualifier. All other as-eats of my order should have 'qualified' for a VIN already (See my footer for the order details).

They should have known better from the S experience. My unscientific observation is there are more grey 21's than siliver 21's out there. It's also kind of strange that black 22" weren't available for signature and founder's in the beginning. Add to the mystery is they did have non-standard black wheels on Elon's car which means they do know that it's a desirable option to many. Makes one wonder if it's not the same as silver 22" other than painted black. I can't think of a reason why it is not or can not be made that way though.

Well, there goes that theory! Thanks dwebb! ;-)

It's a mystery indeed CarlK. They must be just black versions of the same wheel though.
