This test is only valid for short commutes. It has little to no bearing on long road trip efficiency.

It takes a full 1.5 - 2 hours of driving in an S or X, which have proper battery heaters, to get the systems up to operating temperature.
 
Seems a bit high to me if we are talking a longer trip, can't see the heating taking close to 4 kW over time at 72 Auto. Quite sure their consumtion would have been lower if they ran the car from full to empty instead of just driving 10 miles.

Agreed, running the car for 10 miles is like measuring MPG by doing short trips in ICE cars, lots of short trips will be way less efficient
