Still trying to fight this.... here is the latest updates
1). In the week from picking the car up when they refused to repair the rocker panels and taking it back to have a new bonnet and lights even more paint has peeled off in existing and new areas.
2). Tesla's response
Dear Jon,
Thank you for your email regarding the sills on your Model 3 Tesla. We have consulted with the service centre and listened to advice from the technicians dealing with the issue and followed up by communicating with the engineering team.
Our technicians have examined the areas concerned thoroughly who have concluded that the sill areas have been effected by stone chips and is therefore not covered by warranty. Stone chips are unfortunately unavoidable on any vehicle, Tesla currently recommends installing the ‘All Weather Protection Kit’ to help reduce the occurrence in this area.
If a customer desires further protection, we can advise that many customers report success with aftermarket paint protection film, which when properly applied does not affect the warranty coverage. However, Tesla does not guarantee the performance of third party products.
Tuning the gap and flush of the doors and fender can help ensure the front of the door panels are not exposed to direct impact from road grit.
Kind regards
