How to get my City to invest in EV chargers

More and more I see Teslas driving around my city. To attract more Teslas, and to benefit those of us who already have one, it seems my city might consider investing, or encouraging a private sector business to invest in one. Like an established gas station.

Does anyone have experience with this process? Seems like chicken or egg kind of thing.

Have you looked on Plugshare yet to see what is there? I would be shocked if there aren't already some. Most decent sized cities already have many dozens of stations from the various charging network companies, like Blink, Chargepoint, EVgo, Semaconnect, Greenlots, etc., etc.
