How to get price adjustment or discount

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Hello,

I just registered on this website after deciding to purchase a Model X 75D. My owner advisor is either emailing or calling me every day for last 2 weeks to provider her an RN # and referral code. I have referral code from my friend but I don't want to place an order yet as I would like to find an inventory or loaner vehicle with price adjustment.

Can someone please give me an idea on how to locate or ask for discount/price adjustment? Is there a way to get price adjustment after placing an order?

I am looking to get MX with below specifications for close to $80K:

1) 20 inch wheels
2) 7 seater
3) Enhanced Auto Pilot
4) Textile
5) Any color

I am a first time Tesla buyer and a new poster so please don't be harsh on this post. I am looking for help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
John

Discounts on 75's are very rare and not particularly large unless they have significant miles on them. If you wait till the end of the quarter you might have a chance of getting a few grand off, otherwise its usually just a dollar or two per mile on an inventory car.

That's going to be a tough car to find, mainly because it's not a typical option. I would narrow it down to the following:

1) 7 Seater

The reason being is that unless you have a specific adversion to an option; anything else is just a plus. Ie, if you got an opportunity to get a fully loaded MX75D for 80k, would you get it?

The only thing you truly cant change is the seating arrangement in your desired build. You can trade 22's for 20's. You can enable EAP after. You can even swap your seats to textile if you want to go extreme. With that said, discounts typically get heavier on well optioned cars. Getting a discount on a more basic model is more difficult.

Tesla does not discount new, custom ordered vehicles. Even Elon pays full price.
They do, however, have discounts for previously manufactured vehicles that have been used as showroom or test drive demo's.
They also can price adjust new vehicles they have in stock but still new. They might not have all the latest upgrades, but might offer some savings.
There are also Certified Pre-Owned vehicles that will also have discounts for age and mileage.

A delivery specialist might be able to search their discounted inventory and find something you would enjoy.

There is also a website that can list the availability and pricing.

Right now there's only one X75D that's even close to meeting your criteria, and it only has a $200 discount and is $93k.

Inventory Search | Tesla

The cheapest one I see previously sold which had textile seats only a $700 discount sold for $88k earlier this month.

I think you'll be very hard pressed to get into the $80k range for a demo/loaner car.

Good luck though!

Thanks everyone for quick response. I agree with Yinn that it's better to target 7 seater. I already visited Tesla dealership and as mentioned I have been working with an OA. The problem is the cars she has been sending me are always over $90K. I already increased my budget from MS to MX. I am not interested in CPO.

Hey, look for the Tesla showroom deals group on Facebook. They found many great deals on showroom/floor model/loaners in the past.

You only get a huge discount for showroom/floor model/loaners. But even with that significant discount, I think only leasing deals are truly deal. And 7 seaters are rare too!

Thanks. I would look into Facebook group. For a small business owner, being able to write off more than 75% of the purchase price in first year makes it worthwhile to buy instead of leasing.

My wife ordered a 2017 MX 75D originally, about 5 days before delivery, my DS called me that 3 inventory MX came up. The one we choose was a MX 100D, premium upgrade, EAP, white (5 )seats, 5800 miles demo, $20000 price adjustment, .99% for 72 months.

They just transferred everything from the original order including the trade in allowance. The price difference between the 75D and the 100D is a whopping $8.
Oh. I am waiting for my signature charger and my wife got $500 for accessories
The car is awesome so far. Delivered 3/31.
Good luck!

You must expect the price is around~$100k or more. But then you might get a really sweet deal. Wait for 3-4 weeks before the end of quarter. The inventory/demo usually come out at that time. The last wave had massive amount of X P100DL fully loaded for $105k-$120k.

Original price was $118k.
I also found out later it has the upgraded stereo, Dolby.

I told a friend to make the request ahead of time, these deals are there. Just be patient.

Why wouldn't a NJ car be available for CA? I was under the impress that Tesla ships the cars across the country for inventory/demo sales? I think you just have to be willing to put down a deposit sight unseen.
Recently they have said that discounted inventory cars in one region can not be sold in another. Who knows how consistent the policy is, but I've been told that by more than one OA.
