How to identify a stealth from inventory?

I know this is a fairly basic question but I haven't been able to find a clear answer with search, so hoping the community can help me out. When looking at Telsa's inventory, what are the things should I watch for to indicate a car is a stealth? 18'' rims, LR AWD and a 0-60 at 3.2s?

Also, can anyone tell me why some LR AWDs are showing with 18'' and 19'' rims on Tesla's inventory?

Finally, are they even making stealth's anymore in model year 2020?

Thanks!

It is my understanding that you need to call up a sales adviser to get a "stealth" ar. They come with both 18" and 19" rims, it all just depends on what is available. Calling them is the only way to find out if it is available.

Tesla did not build any stealth cars for inventory once they eliminated the “discount” for not purchasing the performance upgrade package. So the only way you will see a stealth car is if someone placed an order and then cancelled it.

But why would you want one anyway? They sell for the same price as the Performance cars with the PUP upgrade. So if you are going to pay the extra money you might as well take the upgrades. Otherwise just buy an AWD car and pay $2K for the Performance Boost option.

As for your second question, Tesla will build AWD cars with both 18” and 19” wheels for inventory since both are popular configurations.

I don't think that a boosted AWD is the same as a Stealth. Aren't the torque and power settings different? Doesn't the stealth have a launch mode? Can't you add a track package for the stealth? I know these are all software but doesn't the stealth come with the 980 motor whereas the AWD has the contravercial "maybe it is the same maybe not" 990?

For some reason I thought there was a price difference from performance and stealth, even with the extra $5k factored in. I was mainly after the speed of the performance with the 18'' rims and ideally at a lower price than the performance vehicle. I guess only option for that is to buy the performance with the free upgrade, sell the 20s and buy the 18s - or just get the LR AWD and spend $2k to get half way there.

I did not say they were the same. My point was if you want a stealth car you are buying it primarily for better acceleration, not for the upgraded wheels, brakes and spoiler. So if all you want is a car that is a little faster than the AWD car, the AWD + Boost is a better value than paying the full upgrade to get Performance but foregoing the PUP.

Stealth used to be $2K more than AWD. That made it a great buy, especially now since AWD + Boost ends up costing the same price but does not give you the full speed increase of the Stealth. But that option has been gone for several months now, so a Stealth and a Performance with the full PUP cost exactly the same price. For that reason I suspect very few people are buying Stealth cars.

And yes, you could buy a Performance with PUP and try to sell the 20 inch wheels, but unless you see value in the other PUP enhancements I still say AWD + Boost is a better value and simpler to buy since it does involve selling wheels to recover some of your costs.

Spoke with my SA a couple weeks ago because I wanted a stealth as well, but he said they're no longer available off menu and are instead the option that you see on the custom order menu on the website. Even he said that there is no point in ordering a stealth due to the new pricing, so like everyone else has mentioned, you might as well get the full PUP if you go down that route.

Yeah, LR AWD + Boost is the direction I'm leaning I think. While I'd love the performance, it's hard to justify the extra $8,000 for what'll essentially be a faster car (don't care for wheels, brakes, etc). Only real hesitation at this point is whether to go new or used as I'm worried about the resale value in a few years once the Y fully rolls out.

Pretty much this. Just about all of the 'new stealth' models from 2019 have already been purchased & delivered to owners, most of them in Nov & Dec of last year but some in Jan of this year.

Like others said, the only way to get a stealth car now is to buy the performance model without the PUP. But since the PUP is no additional cost, you might as well get it and you then sell your 20" wheels and pick up some cheaper 19's or 18's that will fit over the calipers, pull the carbon trunk spoiler off and sell it, and paint your brake calipers silver or black (which I prefer over red). Then you'll have a stealth Model 3 with a few extra bucks in your pocket after selling the 20" sport wheels and CF wing.

That would be more work and effort than most people would want to take on under normal circumstances. In the middle of a pandemic with economic uncertainty and nationwide stay at home mandates, that just isn’t going to happen.

Most people are perfectly happy with AWD. Even the Boost is not really necessary as the base AWD model is already faster than 99% of the cars on the road. Those who want a Performance car are going for highest performance regardless of cost, and the ability to take it to the track. And that relatively small segment of consumers is not going to pay full price and skip the PUP.

also bear in mind Tesla dishonestly measures the 0-60 different for P and non-P cars.... so the real-life difference between the P and AWD+ (with boost) is smaller than Teslas official #s suggest.

If you measure em all the same way they do the P then the P does about 3 flat now on a good surface and high Soc... the AWD+ does about 3.5 same conditions... (and the AWD no boost does 3.9 despite that 4.4 nonsense Tesla lists)
