Correct, it's the cabin overheat protection, which is supposed to keep the cabin no hotter than 105F. It's obvious when you get in a Tesla sitting out in the sun that it's hot, but not the furnace that most cars are. And my understanding is that the cabin overheat protection is a good idea, particularly for the longevity of the big center dis[play screen. And if you leave the car at 15% or less, it will feel like a furnace when you get back in.

Things may be changing. I just made a 1450 mile round trip and the car only wanted two stops one way when I started with 95% battery. I left at 8:30 and stopped for lunch/charge about 12. Then I stopped about 5 for dinner/ charge. Pulled in at destination at8:15. 725 miles in 12 hours, 60mph average. Autopilot set on 75 or80 most of the trip except 80 miles on surface roads. Last time I made the trip in an ice, was about the same. Car charged to 90% in 45 minutes on 150 kWh chargers. Coming back started with 200 miles and 3 stops later was home in 12 hours. Stops were 45 (breakfast) , 25 and 25. A raven S will pull an easy 275 between stops.

Yeah, the newest Raven cars can occasionally skip chargers for sure but still non optimal to charge past taper if you can help it.

Yes if you stop for a sit down meal ~45 minutes, the Raven will probably have over 300 rated miles when you're done and will easily be able to skip at least one charger. At 75-80mph I'm only driving 275 miles if I started at 100%, though a one hour meal may charge my car to 100%.

During my cross country drives this summer the longest day was 740 miles in 12 hours 20 minutes. My charge stops were 28, 18, 25 and 18 minutes, just eating snacks and never charging past 225 rated miles. I had another day more like Snerruc's: 654 miles in 10 hours 15 minutes with a 51 minute lunch stop and only one 30 minute stop after that.

I’m getting more conservative after having this happen twice (once after driving for a while at 55MPH with no A/C).

Been there. No fun. Key is to keep a keen eye on your power limit.

depends where you live. If you only have i.e. 50kw charging available and its a 10min back and forth trip from the highway its usually better to stay longer. if you have i.e. 100kw charging available and its only a 2min detour its obviously better to charge less often.
