How to move rear windows up for tinting?

Hello. I wanted to try tinting the back window myself, but couldn't figure out how to move the rear windows up with doors open. Anyone knows the trick please enlighten me. Thank you. Mine is the 21 M3 by the way.

With the door open, you can use a screw driver to push the latch. The car will think the door is closed and the window will roll up. Be careful not to close the door with the window in the up position as the glass will hit the trim around the edge of the door and get scratched.

Interesting, I would have guessed removing the interior door panel would be the easiest way to apply film.

That’s what my installer did. Then carefully dried the lower portion with a heat gun before resetting the latch.

make sure you do something to remind you not to close the door.

Do you think we could get away with not removing the window seal and just push the film in with a squeezy?

They used a small wedge to hold the seal open. But I will say there is a very fine line of light that can be noticed on my install if I lower my eyes to that level.

Just take out the puddle light at the bottom of the door. The windows should roll up. Then put it back when you're done.
