How to order custom License plate for pending Model Y order?

When I placed my MYP order the other day, it asked if I was transferring license plates from an existing vehicle, which I am not. I plan to get new plates and wanted to get customized plates. Does Tesla order plates automatically or do I do this myself at the local DMV after receiving the car?

Tesla orders your plates for you. Ours just showed up in the mail after a few weeks.

Depends on state. They ordered mine when I lived in Oregon; for my latest, in Texas, I have to order them myself. My SA in Austin told me they changed this about a year ago.
