Anyone have any good idea on how to prevent rock chips on the windshield? I was on a road trip recently and there is not a tiny chip on the windshield. Can I cover it up with xpel? Any recommendation?
I applied a coating of C-Bond NanoShield Plus to my 2020 M3 AWD windshield and shortly after installation I experienced a rock strike from a concrete truck while traveling @ 70 mph. I watched the rock strike just below my mirror. I was pleasantly surprised to find no ding, crack, or star. It is very affordable and easy to apply.
you can get it filled in with resin which reduces most of the visible damage and prevents the cracks from spreading. After you have the car for 5-10 years and there are many fixed rockchips you fork out the money to get it replaced (or wait for a big rockchip and let your insurance pay the windscreen replacement). The alternative is to lock your car in the garage and keep it fresh and only take it to car shows. The rest of us will just drive their cars and cover many thousand kilometers and maintain it as needed.
