You're right lowering the Roadster's profile is NOT in Tesla's plan. They have made it clear to many of us that they are in full support of our charging from MS HPWCs and they want our cars to be seen in public places.

Absolutely agree. I've been asked to bring my Roadster to a few Tesla drive or store events - because they want it front and center. And those of us who went to the Tesla reception at Monterey last summer had our Roadsters parked out front. While a few Model S were on display, owners showing up didn't get the preferential parking that Roadsters received.

I tested the SR CAN with my 2.5 at Corte Madera last night around 8p.m. Only received it that afternoon. Met one of Tesla's "Product Specialists" who helped me and was excited to see a Roadster charging there. In just the 15 minutes we were there the Roadster caught the eye of a few people passing by. The Roadster is still a "halo" car with people just saying "I want that", "Is that yours!?"

You just missed me charging my Roadster there by just hours. See my post up thread. I didn't see anyone from Tesla during my time there, but then I didn't go into the showroom and ask permission to charge ;-)

At the Fremont Service center - charged fine @70 amps, no problems -

Henry is going to be busy making his CAN SR.

I'm still working through the reservation list and I just ran out of parts. I was supposed to have more by now. My machine shop seems to be perpetually behind schedule. I'm going out of town the first week in March so nothing will get done then. If you don't have one by now, it may be second week in March. There's only a few people left on the waiting list. If you're one of them and need a loaner for a special trip, let me know. Thanks to everybody for your patience and support!

Has anyone had any issues using the CAN-SR with the Model S HPWCs?

We are and have discussed this with both Henry and Tesla. Tesla is reviewing the logs from our Roadster.

I've used the CAN SR at four HPWCs so far with no problems. The Tesla personnel who have observed my charging while using it are Invariably amazed and impressed by the quality of the workmanship.

Here’s what would occur:

The HPWC would start the process, the charging ring on the car would go from white to blue to blinking blue to white to blinking red and the charge would fail. We could hear the contactors click twice in the PEM before the charging ring went from blinking blue to red. Once the charging ring on the car went to blinking red, the HPWC gave one red blink signifying a ground fault error. The VDS displayed “DMC FW: HCS Faulted warning” and “DMC FW: Line Voltage Lost Sync or UnderFrequency fault” (errors 954 & 1084). This occurs the majority of times on the HPWCs at all the casinos.

We also dialed down the amps from 70 to 40 but unfortunately had the same result.

We believe we ruled out the HPWC and the CAN by enlisting the assistance of another Roadster 2.5 owner. We met at the Eldorado and while our car erred on both HPWCs, his was able to successfully charge without any issue or error.

We have discussed this with Henry and our TSC. We are awaiting the log review from the TSC.
