HW3 in Model 3 since ~4/12

Elon said they've been building Model 3 with the new computer "for about 10 days" in the Autonomy talk today

Yep - just trying to figure out a way to tell - without doing a vehicle teardown - whether a particular vehicle has the new computer or not.

My delivery showed "FSD Computer" under its Autopilot options, so ... maybe I do, maybe I don't. My door sticker shows a 4/2019 build date, so its could've been on either side of the HW3 in-service date.

Doesn't really matter one way or the other - if it has it, great. If not, they'll add it when the software is ready for it. Just a curiosity item.

Wait. What’s 7.1x?

Arnt we on 8.5 and above? Why would 7.X indicate you have HW3?

HW2.5 cars are on 8.5 and above, HW3 apparently doesn’t support the newer revisions. Corporate Support confirmed today that cars shipped with 7.102 have HW3 and that is (was until this afternoon) the most current firmware for the new hardware. This afternoon, they released 7.105 as well.

The hw3 firmware is definitely present in versions as new as 2019.12, but they may be holding it back for some reason.

I have a 325XXX VIN scheduled for delivery tomorrow so curious if folks when any lower VIN’s are on the version. Told it was produced the 11th.

Did the Tesla delivery advisor tell you the car’s production date? Or you got it from someone else? My VIN is a 306XXX, and it’s scheduled for delivery on the coming Saturday. I’d like to confirm its production date as well.

Which model is that VIN for? The AWD VINs seem lower than the SR+ VINs for equivalent build dates. I think firmware version 7.10x may be the best clue you have HW3, though that’s not really proven yet.

I took possession of VIN 366xxx which was manufactured on Thursday (4/19). It came with 2019.7.102 firmware and was upgraded yesterday to 2019.7.105.

Your delivery specialist have access to your VIN's production date, so you can go ahead and ask them.

Where did you see that? .

...everywhere?

it's been widely reported since mid-late last year.

Elon himself explicitly said this like a dozen times in the last 6-8 months both on twitter, on public tesla investor calls, and in interviews.

Tesla themselves explicitly states this on the actual order page for FSD.

When you bough it is irrelevant. If you bought FSD in a model 3 (or any S/X made with HW2.x) you get HW3 for free.

I’m not see any reference to HW3 on my FSD order page. What you you referring to?

Design Your Model 3 | Tesla

Right under the pricing it tells you:

Tesla.com said:
Includes the Full Self Driving Computer

Which is the official name of the HW3 computer.

it's included in the price of FSD
(which Elon has been telling us since mid-late last year, but Tesla finally officially stated on the order page as of a few weeks ago)

Got it. so the 2.5 is not considered a FSD computer?

Elon Musk said:
Anyone who purchased full self-driving will get FSD computer upgrade for free. This is the only change between Autopilot HW2.5 & HW3. Going forward “HW3” will just be called FSD Computer, which is accurate. No change to vehicle sensors or wire harness needed. This is v important.
