Tesla Model 3 travels 606 miles on a single charge in new hypermiling record Elon is a fan: Elon Musk on Twitter But... Sean M Mitchell on Twitter Overnight Supercharging session fails to revive the car...
I can't see it as being a record if the car wasn't able to charge at the end. I can probably set some kind of record if I die in the process of setting it. I am glad they did it as it looks like they might have uncovered some bug or weakness. Just like CR uncovered the ABS bug.
Yup. Definite value to this test. Sadly, the headlines this might create may not focus on that positive aspect.
I'm actually surprised it wasn't much higher. Only 46 miles higher than the P100D record? Must have something to do with that high percentage of the battery which wasn't used.
We received some pretty good clarity today from the technicians about why we only managed 66 kWh. Will make another update soon.
That seems like an unwarranted conclusion. I think all we know is that 606 miles * 110 Wh/mile != 78 kWh As for conjecture ? I'm willing to wager a cup of Java that the consumption rate is deceiving. The air drag and road friction already combine for ~ 82 Wh/mile at 40 kph. Questions I am interested in: 1. What energy use is not being measured in the Wh/mile meter ? 2. Is the range remaining based on the Wh/mile meter or a different calc for remaining kWh ? 3. How many kWh did the recharge take from the meter ? I expect ~ 87 kWh based on EPA testing.
