I am refusing delivery of my CPO

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
The stories are true, the quality of the CPOs and the process leaves something to be desired. I put a deposit down on P78184 which I knew had cosmetic damage to the driver's mirror and lots of damage to the rims. However, the delivery team sent pictures yesterday that showed lots of rock chips and scratches over trunk, bumpers, and back pillars.

Quality of the vehicle aside, the entire process felt like I was the one having to manage all of the steps along the way. I know the team is working hard on improving the experience, but coughing up $70K or so for something that looks like this was too much for me to handle.

I tried adding all of the pics to this dropbox folder. Let me know if the link works

I mean, it's not ideal but this doesn't seem that egregious to me.

It does seem pretty bad given limited mileage of the car. Comparatively mine looks new at 32k miles. I did get XPEL ultimate which seems to pay off with Teslas... Good luck finding another. I think model 3 performance will change the market.

So those of you looking for an CPO that HAS been refurbished, I am selling mine. After passing on 3 cars like the OP I finally found this one. Not all, but most CPO cars for sale are trashed. Mine is NOT...it was one of the last P85D's to be refurbished and only has two small rock chips, with new tires and a new drivers seat!. New X coming next month and I need to sell it asap. Selling it for bellow what I paid a month ago!. Because I am on this site all the time I would not be pushing it in here but this car is in amazing condition and I would love to see a fellow member buy it. No hassles no drama, it's parked and ready to go!

2014 TESLA MODEL S P85D CPO

Dark cars u need to PPF them and ceramic when new ...the previous leasee didn’t get that memo lol ...in all seriousness that car when new was prob around 125k-130k so off lease there are good bargains ...fixing rim rash is about $150 per rim ...other scratches chips can be fixed with a good paint correction...the headlight scratches I have used polishing compound to remove ...I’m thinking it’s about $2k to get this car spiffed up to decent condition. ..if the OP is just looking for a performance kick the P M3 can easily fit that bill ~80k with newer tech ...but uglier looking car

I would say very small dings, you could get those worked out for $500 to look like new, no reason to turn down $70k for cometic reasons. Furthermore, don't get those worked out and you won't need to worry about your car ;) You could insist a discount of $500, though.

Agree to disagree I suppose. 3 of the wheels needed work and a new skull cap and paint then we can talk about the scratches/chips/etc.

My MS CPO wasn't too bad looking as you can see from my profile photo. I understand what he's saying when you mentioned feeling like your doing all the hard work. Tesla needs to get better at that, the sales specialist could be a lot more proactive with the customers....all that aside If your paying all that money who TF wants to pick up a car that should be in better looking condition with all that damage? For 70K I expect a lot better. No BMW, Audi or Mercedes would be in that condition....If YOU want to deal with finding people to fix all those issues after the fact then thats on YOU. In a case like me where I live 3 plus hours from any service centers and 30+ minutes from a supercharger and work all the time, things like this take a back seat pretty quickly. I wouldn't want to be spending that kind of money and NOT be happy at delivery knowing what issues I will need to fix at the jump. And so you all know.....The delivery experience wasn't all that great, they will be smiling to take your money and then rushing you out of the parking lot ASAP.

Kind of bad cosmetic damage for a 20k car, but ive seen a lot worse from tesla used.

Honestly don't think it's terrible, a used car is going to have rim rash and paint scratches.

I agree the process is sh*t though. Put pics up on the website so people know what they are buying. Freaking scammy tesla used car sales team.

Tesla’s website says “70 point mechanical inspection” ...no where does it say cosmetic inspection etc ...not sure why folks get worked up over this when Tesla tells you up front ...yah no merc would look like this CPO but than again a Merc is not a Tesla ...there is a market and price for everything these things will sell ...at close to 50% deprecation hit ...

Bro i'm NOT trying to start an argument with you cause theres always one person who feels like there comments most be heard more than others....This man is probably feeling super let down at the moment and the last thing I would want is people arguing over something stupid instead of the overall issue....I did state if YOU are okay with buying that MS then go for it but I wouldn't waste my time as little a damage as it may seem. I knew the moment I put in Mercedes or BMW basically anything but Tesla there would be that one person saying something about it. 70 point inspection or NOT I would of done the same thing and refused that car. Again NOT trying to start and argument with you JUST stating MY own opinion.
