I posted a thread about the white premium seats killing me too - They gave me a loaner while fixing problems on mine, I was so frustrated with the seat during my hour commute that I turned around and drove to Tesla and asked for another loaner, I ended up in a Chrysler 300 (clunker, relatively speaking) and realized it's the most pleasant ride, my back didn't bother me all day at work, my arms weren't hurting..

Is your interior white by chance?

I drove an X overnight (rented on Toro) and thought it was pretty good (I didn't love the seats, but they were satisfactory) - These two if they said we'll pay you $100k to drive this a year I'd say no, not worth the pain.. I can't even describe accurately how much I hate the seats.

Agree, but the leather seats don't bother me in same way, which makes me think it must be material. I've searched to see if they have a leather one in inventory and don't see any, regardless of color.. sigh..

You might be allergic to the material. People can be allergic to anything, and allergies can manifest as all sorts of symptoms. An allergy specialist doctor told me he had a patient who had a severe allergy to safflower oil. If he had any, he had a faux heart attack. He'd been rushed to the ER several times with the classic heart attack symptoms, but it was an allergy.

I've had a number of allergies and there is something airborne that causes the muscles in my neck to tense up into knots. It may be a pollen, it doesn't happen very often, but always in the spring or summer.

Your allergy may be a contact allergy, or it might be a reaction to something out gassing from the seat material, or something else. When I got my Model S we had to leave it in the garage with an ozonator running on low every night for a couple of weeks. There was something out gassing that set both of us off, my SO more than me.

The non-leather seats are significantly softer. Some say it's more comfortable, for me it doesn't offer as much support. I prefer the old non-animal friendly seats. I can sit in those until my butt hurts, but my back would stay fine. The new pleather seats are the opposite for me, butt stays comfy but back hurts.

There's quite a bit of leather seats in inventory...

True, but mine is P100D, not looking to downgrade to non P version.. Also I'm searching for premium sound, cold weather, premium upgrade package.. I know I could do aftermarket sound but trying to avoid that.

I'm going to take afternoon off work and go speak to the SC.

Then yea there's no exact match. There's a couple with no PUP, or no Sound but not that exact car. This one is probably closest.

You could shop for replacing the seats you have. I bought my car with multipattern, but the old multipatterns seats did not work for either of our backs and I upgraded to the next gen seats a few months after delivery. It might be more difficult now because the leather seats are out of production, but you may be able to find some seats on eBay or Craig's List or find someone parting out a wreck.

I have driven my MX on a few long trips towing >90 miles. The seats are not as perfect as my Volvo XC60. I say that because I had to “think” about them while driving and I never did that before. I found if I changed steering from standard to comfort it helped. Also played with the lower lumbar support adjustment a bit. I feel for you mohanman. Good luck in finding resolution. If I come up on any tips I’ll let you know.
I carry my wallet in my front pocket...used to have issues from sitting on it.
But I too recall an annoying factor on long trips in the X. I attributed it to road noise...
I have more long trips planned so if I find any specific things w respect to seating/comfort I’ll check back here.
I find the car 10 out of 10 in many areas...but it’s not quite a 10 on long road trip comfort yet.

My chair still bothers me from time to time. I think its worse if I wear a shirt with a collar, or tuck in my shirt, like its pulling. Nothing I can do I give up . Seats on the X just aren't comfortable. They gave me a model S loaner while my X is in service.. its like 100 times better. Noise too.

I will have to take it until I sell the car. Having a model s for a few days I have to say the s is a far superior car. It’s smooth, fast, quiet and very comfortable. My x makes me tired immediately ! Probably
Combination road noise, discomfort, roughness . If only I was in market for a sedan.. that’s the only
Problem is getting in and out! I’m 6’2” makes it hard

Interesting. My SO says she gets car sick in the X and not other new cars. Says it's the smell, but I have black leather. Also less than 3000 miles so it might dissipate with time. Does not bother me at all.

I'm 6'2" with all my height in my legs. Getting in and out, especially out was tough at first. I crank up the suspension to maximum most places and I've otherwise managed to adapt.

It is weird how small changes in seating can make a big difference in comfort. Same with other things. I have always had trouble finding shoes because of a combination of unusually flexible feet and bad knees. Orthotics have helped, but I still go through a lot of pain shoe shopping. Sometimes different pairs of shoes of the same brand and same size, one will work and another won't.

Some people found the original seats in the Model S to be more comfortable than the next gen seats, but most people find the next gen seats more comfortable. The original seats were downright painful on my back and neck unless I slouched. My SO had the same problem. We've both been fine with next gen seats.

I've sat in an X, but never been in one for more than a few minutes, so I don't really know how they differ from the S seats. I thought they were pretty much the same. It is possible your situation is like me and shoes and you just got unlucky getting seats in your X that hit you the wrong way, but possibly another X would be OK.

Unfortunately with these things it can sometimes be difficult to tell for sure until I've experienced it for a bit. With shoes a fairly large number are "no" right off the bat, but there have been quite a few that were "maybes" that didn't work out until I had worn them for a while.

The ozonator helped a lot with the outgassing. Whatever the chemical was that was setting us off, it was short lived. Over a year later we can still smell the leather a little, but that doesn't seem to bother either of us much.

Get on Amazon, or your favorite supplier, order a box full (not one) of activated charcoal. I did this entire box spread around my X - Coconut Shell Activated Carbon/Charcoal (12 pack) -Air Purifying Bag - 3Times the Adsorption Capacity of Active Bamboo Charcoal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1DS1L1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_QaPdQJ9TwICv1

I wanted to try ionizer like some suggested -

Wosports Car Air Purifier with HEPA Filter, 8 Million Negative Ions Ionizer and Cigarette Adapter, Remove Cigarette Smoke, Pet Smell, Bacteria and Dus https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719X33Y3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_zicTHWJuXtBO6

My car was a different car afterwards, not perfect, but bearable.

I'm also convinced my seat is formed wrong, I got another loaner, this one leather, with a seat as uncomfortable as mine but no allergic reaction..

I think I'm getting to the bottom of my allergy to my X, hopefully..
