I drive a 370z now and want a M3. On Paper 0-60 is same. Driving it was intertesting

great to hear from someone who made the exact switch. I love my Z but after driving the base model with zero tech for 5 years coupled with the nature of the car it feels 'harsh'. Loud and grimy.

I had a 370z in the past. I won't miss the loud highway road noise.

The 370z always felt more truck like in the way the clutch operated and the effort of the shifter. It was no Honda S2000...

What is a sports car? It has 2 seats, it has enough power to get out of its own way, it's fast enough, it handles well enough. It's not a 911, but it's faster than a Miata. It's more of a sports car than a Model 3.

Porsches, Miata’s, S2000s were all designed from the ground up as sports cars.

if you launch the z correctly, it feels just as fast, especially the 3rd gear, it pulls really well

in real world traffic driving tho, the 3 is much faster, the instant pickup can't be compared, the z needs the correct rev matching to the gear etc, by then the 3 is already gone, hehe

The gtr was based on the same platform, it does pretty well.

The s2000 engine was based on the prelude f series, that’s not exactly sports car. The Miata engine ran in many Mazda’s too.

Yup. Mine is collecting dust next to my tesla....

I should also add that the car is much faster and fun at the race track. As a grocery getter and commuter, not so much.

Funny my z was 2 sec quicker than the refuel winner on Hoosiers with steeet tires. I was 4 sec faster with Hoosiers than he was

Yeah updating the brakes would also increase the track performance.

Well guys I bought the M3 today. I had the Z 5 years and never tracked it so I think I’m more of a stop light racer and could use something more refined which is the primary thing that peaked my interest. Nice knowing me

So I was driving in my loaner black Model S and I hear this really loud noise coming from the direction of my peripheral vision.

Looked over and was puzzled at what was so loud and so damn slow.

If the AWD was available when I ordered, I would've been tempted to go that route to shave a bit off 0-60 because it isn't adding that much cost for what you get.

AWD is basically a software-locked P3D+ (minus better brakes and tires), no? Gotta think there will be a jailbreak.
