All of the above - have it wired for the HPWC & it will be overspec'd for the 14-50.

FYI, have the 14-50 outlet installed 'upside down', i.e., ground on the top. That way the cable hangs down when plugged in. It's less stress.

Install instructions for the HPWC: https://www.tesla.com/sites/default...l_connector_installation_manual_80A_en_US.pdf

That's right side up. Outlets should be installed with the ground up to prevent shorting of the hots and/or hot and neutral if something rests across the pins when the plug isn't fully inserted. Of course, NEC doesn't actually provide official guidance on which way is correct and there are arguments that are contrary to the one I provided above. ;)

I do think it's overkill that people are still recommending 100A breakers for the wall connectors. The 100kWh battery size cars can only take 72A max, but most of the cars can't even take that much. A 90A breaker would do that, but you could still get 64A from an 80A breaker, which is almost there and a bit lower cost on wire. For the Model 3, it can only take 32A or 48A, so the 100A is beyond overkill for that. A 50 or 60A breaker should be plenty for home overnight charging.

As mentioned above, a 14-50 such as Leviton 279 can handle 4 AWG wire. If you have the electrician run that size now, you may never need to upgrade (I believe that makes you good for a 70 amp charge rate with [email protected] wire and 90A breaker).
