It's not intentional, but Tesla should enable this layout for v9, with apps on all 3 layers being user selectable. Reducing the display to one app choice is a downgrade, increasing it to 3 would be an upgrade. Tesla, you can make this happen, you're halfway there on accident!

The trick is to have music and nav up (if you don't have nav up, please share your trick!) and one finger on the music app. Use another finger to tap the arrow for apps, then camera. Once the camera is up, music gets hidden - drag upwards until it slides over the camera.
It's not as easy as before but tesla hasn't killed this yet. I hope they never do, and learn from the mistake that more is nicer than less.

Let's summarize and make life easy:
A quick swipe up on the app icon restores the last app if you drag past the menu bar.
While viewing the app, use one hand with two fingers on the music and app icons to display three “windows” by dragging both fingers all the way up to the map.
