WOW!
I took two friends to Costa Mesa to see why I want to buy a Tesla. They test drove an 85D and were as impressed as I had been. Then our Product Specialist took us out in a P85D to demonstrate "The Launch" on a quiet and deserted street, smoothly paved, with about a 0.4 mi straightaway ending with a sweeping 90º left turn with an open field of view around the bend.
OMG! I thought stories of being plastered against the seat back were exaggerations, but no, they are true! During our launch - at, what, 1.6G or so? - from standstill to warp speed, I was sure that I felt the blood rushing from my eyeballs to the back of my head, my stomach thought I was on a diabolical carnival ride and my arms broke out in a cold sweat. In my impaired state, I was sure that he never slowed down as he powered through the turn as if running on rails; no tire squeal, no sideslip, just massive angular acceleration.
