Spotted at the LAX Lot C EV charging bank this morning. Attendant gave them a ticket, which was awesome.

Wow, ticket or not, nobody can use that charger due to the plug being locked under the hood. And I think there's a good chance the person will forget they did lock the plug under the hood and they back out and damage the charger since there's nothing to prevent that, like there is with an EV.

No possibility of feigned innocence/ignorance regarding the intended purpose of that parking space when you go through the trouble of pretending to be charging your car.

OTOH, do we know for a fact this isn't a DIY electric conversion with the charger connector placed under the hood to prevent someone from maliciously disconnecting his charge cable? :D

    (Oh, that's easy.)
If its an electric (or even a semi-electric) car, then the owner would've gone through the trouble of getting the California HOV Access (carpool) stickers. Its too nifty a benefit to pass up.

And I hope he ruins his hood when he backs out, forgetting to remove the charging cable.

DIY electric conversions tended to be liberally labelled (no pun intended).

Thanks SMSMD!!! I downloaded your image and will be printing out several copies. I will keep it in my Model X's glovebox and will "hand them" out when I see idiotic, rude, selfish ICErs at EV charging stations. Bastards!

I presume Clipper Creek EVSE's don't lock the handle to the base like ChargePoints do? If those were ChargePoints, presumably the ICEer wouldn't have a card and couldn't pull-off that stunt.

The chargers are not locked nor require any cards at this location.

That's one benefit of needing to bring your own cable to the charging station, like we do here in Europe. I doubt very many people would buy a charging cable to try to fake being an electric car. :)
