Here's an idea for Tesla to get around the dealership issue.
Tesla could announce that they will make dealerships.
BUT -- the requirements to become a dealer are so impossibly high and strict that nearly no one could meet the requirements. And even then, Tesla could deny them just because the applicant wore the wrong color shoes to the meeting, or something equally trivial.
THEN -- Tesla could put their own people, a high level current employee, perhaps, in place as the "dealership" franchisee / owner, and have them pretend to be a dealer, when in fact it is really a Tesla store that is merely called a dealership for the legal requirements.
On paper, it is a dealership, but in practical application, not at all.
