Identifying the correct driver

My wife and I both drive our Model S, and we've noticed an issue with driver identification when one of us approaches the passenger door carrying a key before the driver approaches the driver's door. It seems that when this happens, the car assumes the passenger is the driver and selects that profile once the car leaves Easy Entry mode.

Are there separate sensors for each door? Could the software be improved to recognize which key is at the driver's door?

It appears first fob wins, but it seems my wife's wins in case of a tie. I noticed that hers is Fob #1 in the profiles screen, so perhaps that's a factor.

I've been meaning to swap with her as I typically drive when we're together.

The fob that unlocks the car is the profile that will be used when the driver's door opens. This works most of the time. And it's mildly annoying the rest of the time. Still better than not having this feature. Can also be disabled, so no loss there.
