if you get a rock caught between your glass roof and trunk glass

I saw the post about someone getting a rock caught between their roof glass and the trunk glass. When the trunk was closed it cracked the trunk glass. Here is a possible solution. I am not sure if this is going to hold up in the heat or in the winter. I may try a channeled rubber piece if this doesn't work.

Looks like a good sloution. Is it noisy?
I have often wondered if a similar solution where windscreen meets roof might not quieten the wind noise one hears from 80km/h and up....

No additional noise that I can tell, as I posted above, I am not sure the adhesive strip will hold in the Florida heat. If it doesn't I will try a channeled grooved rubber. Cost to try this was $10.00 when I ordered the 10 foot length weather stripping from Amazon, I only used about 5 feet.

Looks good. What was the item description as it looks like it fits well?

Has anyone used any other sort of rubber seal to add a second seal for the doors? My previous car (Lexus GS400) had two sets of seals in each door unlike the Model S. I think adding a second seal would reduce the road noise (and maybe wind noise) a bit.

Do you need to adjust it each time you close the trunk or is it a one and done without further attention needed?

I just received the seal and tried to install it on my 2020 MS. The seal fits well however on my car at least the liftgate glass grabs the seal in the center of the roof due to tight clearances when the liftgate is opened and closed. It does however look good. A spray of silicone lubricant would probably reduce the grab and allow the edge of the liftgate glass to slide past without catching.

It was a challenge to fit - especially in the center as it was hard to reach across to the center of the roof from the side of the car and get the seal aligned and stuck under the rear lip of the roof glass. I took the seal off in the end but may try again with a new strip to get it all perfectly aligned.

@gix1300r - does your liftgate glass grab the seal when the liftgate opens and closes? I noticed that it looks like you have a sunroof where my car has the all glass roof. Not sure if that makes a difference re: clearances?

No, it doesn't grab at all. Yes I have a sun roof. I used a paper towel and rubbing alcohol under the lip to clean the underside of dirt. Bend a butter knife into an L shape and wrap small pieces of the paper towel around the end. To help press the adhesive use the L part of the butter knife without the paper towel. Post some pics

Thanks. I’ll try again. I have some plastic trim tools that are non-marking and will help to bed the seal. I’ll try again, see how it goes and report back with pics.
