I'm a Production, and here's my story (Sublimaze1 - P188)

Ha just got the same email plus this:

That said, we aim to have a Delivery Specialist to contact customers
roughly around 2-4 weeks before delivery to provide you a more
accurate and precise delivery window, as well as to discuss final
payment, delivery location, and all of the final pieces before handing
the keys over. I wouldn’t be surprised if this occurred in the next week or two.

The obsession gets worse, and you start going through the phases of grief:

Denial: Nothings wrong. I'll get me car early. I know I will.
Anger: Where is my %#%ing car!!!!!??!!
Bargaining: Maybe a bunch of emails, calls, and a bribe to my delivery specialist will help.
Depression: I will never get my car. The world hates me.
Acceptance: It's coming. I know it will come.

I'm between depression and acceptance. Anger was about a week ago. Soon both of you will start having phantom feelings of hip vibration telling you you have new message alerts that aren't real. It's normal. The only cure will be delivery . . . I hope.

I've mostly just had one stage:

Confusion: When the heck am I supposed to get this? Am I before or after Canadian Sigs? Am I before or after they start shipping 40/60kWh batteries? Does my grey interior matter anymore?

Interval update:

Due to a series of events, I have agreed to not disclose certain items or issues. I will, however, fill in those blanks at a later date. What I can say, is that I have been issued a delivery window of 4Dec-18Dec. I did not call for this. This was sent to me.

As well as the email seen here

More later (potentially)

Nothing for me yet...fingers crossed.

Let's see . . . the back end of your window is 18Dec and you are P188. My number is 983, which is 795 greater than yours. At 400 per week, 795 cars will be delivered in just short of two weeks. Two weeks from December 18 is . . . let me get my calendar. :crying:

Remember that production time does not correlate to delivery time. It may take longer for them to delivery to TX than to your state, so you could get your car sooner than you think. I wouldn't give up all hope of getting it this year.

Hmm I've seen a few performance cars in the spreadsheet though. Maybe they are short in parts so they can't do as many perf in each batch. I've only seen one white as well so hope that's not a factor.
I agree. That's the only rationale I can see for P188 to have a window before me and many other R's. I'm not complaining, whining, or bitching. I want my car to be put together slowly, perfectly, and with high-quality parts and I'll happily wait an extra week or two to have a "perfect" car. I'm just interested in how things are working at the factory and am spending too much time on TMC.

P188 here: I think we have tipped the scales. That is, Tesla has determined that the lashback from Sigs who dumped $35K more than Rs and Ps is over. Sigs will not complain as they have their cars (for the most part). Now we are in the "make money phase" and that phase is a bit more insulated from such lashback. Tesla wants the money, and they want it to come in as fast as their plant can safely manage. If that means they hold on carbon fibre (fiber) because there is no CF available, they march on with Obeche. If there is lack of perf parts, they march on with non-perf cars. Financially, this makes sense and, perhaps, I have such a freakishly basic combination of attributes on my car that I slotted in where I do. I still reserve the right to be cautiously optimistic as, like most of you, this is my second or third window. Granted, I have had a few things occur that increase my optimism, but - as I have said before - I will wait til I hear a fat lady, and she will be singing a very silent and quiet song.

I can understand if they have a shortage of something like carbon fiber they can't stop production. However, in my opinion it would be great if they were transparent with those issues and gave those of us affected the opportunity to make a different selection rather than being held up. For example I have a perf with carbon fiber interior. If I were told that there is a shortage that could delay my car I would gladly switch to Obeche in order to avoid the delay.
