The reflectors were required by US law. Red in back, amber in front. I guess they want to ensure something reflects from the car when it is parked.

From this photo the load floor looks fairly high (which is fine since it's an SUV but something to think about) but I think it might be that rear diffuser piece making it seem further front the ground.
