Originally a model 3 set the record going 606 miles on a single charge.
Then a model S broke that record going 701 miles on a single charge.
The Ford Mach E couldn't beat that, so they changed the conditions of the test (Much like Kirk in the Kobayashi Maru test).
Once you understand how they did it, the range stress should just melt away.
