Incorrect CPO Listing - How Does Tesla Typically Handle?

Hi Everyone! This is my first post so please go easy on me o_O

This evening I placed a deposit on a nicely priced 2015 MS 70D w/ 11,XXX miles. The vehicle's CPO description on the offical Tesla site listed AP1 as one of the options - and my selling point. However, after placing the deposit I noticed that AP1 was missing from the vehicle spec list on the .PDF supplied by Tesla. I did more research on the VIN and found that it does appear to lack AP1. Tragic.

What precedent has Tesla set with this type of situation? Do I look for another vehicle and transfer the 1K deposit or will they potentially work with me and load AP1 on the car?

I will contact Tesla tomorrow regarding my concern but I'm also looking for your guidance. Thanks in advance!

My understanding is that the AP1 features are activated as part of the CPO reconditioning process, if your car has the hardware. Speak to your CPO specialist and confirm this. If that doesn't work out, I believe that you can reject the vehicle and transfer the deposit over to a different new or used vehicle.

@BinaryField is correct. If it has AP hardware, it will come activated. I saw the listing for that 70D, it would most certainly have AP1 hardware on it. Follow up with your OA to confirm, but you will surely get AP1 on this car.

Also: You got an AMAZING deal on this car :)

I thought so, too! I missed out on one earlier in the day when I called my wife to confirm I wouldn't be beaten HA! ...I wasn't going to miss the 2nd chance.

You can wait it out right up until delivery as well. They'll be much more likely to add it if it means signing delivery sheet or losing the sale at the last minute. If necessary, put that on the delivery sheet itself as a condition of the sale. Your DS will probably push it through even if nobody else will.

I wouldn't say anything.

Activating autopilot is flicking a switch for them. If they messed up and as the poster above mentioned, they'll fix it at delivery.

P. S. I had a model S 70D...it originally didn't come with autopilot either, but I activated it during ownership which wouldn't show up on the build data. Not dissimilar to your car perhaps. Mine was white with tan in case it's your new car lol.

Placed an order for a 2014 S85 CPO with AP 1.0 and tech package, was really concerned that Tesla was going to try to charge me $3,500 for the convenience feature. This is a big worry lifted off the mind! Also found out using the code lookup on ev-cpo that this CPO has hi-fi audio! Cant want to take delivery of this bad boy come February.

What does the spec say? For the first half of 2015 AP1 was included in the Tech Package, so if you have a 2015 car with Tech Package, AP1 is activated (Tech Package went away once AP became its own option).

All appears to be well on my end. Our local Delivery Specialist and a regional CPO Advisor have assured me that car has AP1 hardware and will be activated upon delivery. The 70D is on its way (maybe there by now?!) to Chicago to be assessed and refurbished. Exciting times!

Nice! I'm sure you'll enjoy that 85 w/ AP1!
