Incorrect Mulroney sticker

Anyone run into issues where the Mulroney sticker is incorrect? My delivery is scheduled for next Sat (Sept 29th), but found the car on the lot already. The sticker does not show EAP or FSD, and as a result it shows the car priced $8k less than it should be. Want to ensure a smooth delivery, and sent a note to my IDA already. Thoughts? Thanks.

My incorrect sticker said Performance (I ordered non-P AWD) but everything else seemed correct. When delivery specialist saw me reading the incorrect one he quickly removed it from my hands saying it was incorrect and the correct one is in the glove box. He apparently knew it was wrong and left it in the car. It did have the correct VIN. Made me wonder if P is just software...

My sticker did not show the EAP, but my purchase agreement did. Mine was actually not activated when I picked it up, and I didn’t realize until I got home. I called the service center, and they just pushed it out to the car. Super easy, but double check when you take delivery. All Model 3s come with the hardware for EAP so it is just software push to the car.

I did notice our Monroney had the wrong paint color--silver instead of MCPearl, which by the way is rather sparkly, first time really seeing the color on a Model 3. Didn't even bother to check the VIN at that point and called the paint error to our DA's attention. He just had to go in and print a correct one out for us but yes, do check over your Monroney form. Oh and I had noticed as I was reading down the items that the car was priced a thousand or so higher than when we ordered ours so that was interesting.

BTW ours was laying on top of the back trunk area shelf just behind the back seats.

When we got our first model 3 in January, the Monroney sticker was printed on the standard glossy window sticker paper. But the AWD Model 3 we picked up two weeks ago had the Monroney sticker printed on thin matte paper (like standard copy paper, but the size of a standard window sticker). So I got the impression they were kind of in a hurry when they printed the window stickers for recent deliveries.

We also sold the original Model 3 to Vroom instead of waiting for Tesla to give us a trade-in offer. Vroom wanted a photo of the window sticker before they would finalize the transaction. So you should probably make sure you get a correct Monroney sticker if you plan to resell the car at some point in the near future.

Interesting you said that @wraithnot because the incorrect one was on heavier glossy window sticker paper. And the one they printed out on thin matt paper. Our manufacture date was 9/18 btw.

It's nice to hold on to your Monroney sticker. In the past for our car purchases we have sometimes been given it and at least once when we showed up to pick up our car after they had detailed it they took the sticker off and never gave it to us.

Should have held onto it, then come back in a month later to ask them why the performance mode was not activated.

From Wikipedia:

The Monroney sticker is required to be affixed to the side window or windshield of every new car sold in the United States and can only be removed by the consumer (Chapter 28, Sections 1231-1233, Title 15 of the United States Code). A fine of up to US$1,000 per vehicle for each offense is authorized if the sticker is missing, and other fees and penalties are authorized if the sticker is altered illegally (including imprisonment).[4] The act does not apply to vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 8,500 lb (3,856 kg).

The sticker must include the following information:

It is interesting that our stickers do not include "optional" equipment such as EAP and FSD. At least mine doesn't have those listed.

Software only, and probably can just re-print the sticker at location once you're setup for delivery.

EAP was on mine:

Ordering as early as possible near the end of June saved us $2500 compared to ordering now it looks like. AWD has increased $2000, and my Pearl paint went up $500. Have to admit it was tempting to reconsider a different paint color (it was between white or red for me) and or seat color when they made the white seats a possibility. That Edit button stayed up for a long time, but in the end very happy with my car and don't regret any choices now I have it and driven it.

Would have been nice if the 5-star rating from the NHTSA had come sooner so it could have been included on it.

Also, if in the unfortunate event your Tesla gets totalled, you may want the sticker to help show your insurance the options your car had. Tesla changes options so frequently that the companies who do total appraisals for insurance companies never get it right. When my S was totalled, the insurance company needed my records to prove their appraiser had gotten it wrong. Ended up being worth $9k more on my appraisal after it was all said and done.

BTW options will be shown on your Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement (MVPA under Vehicle configuration). So even if you paid cash or pay it off at some point, hold on to the Agreement until you sell the car.

I don't think we've ever had a car delivered to us with the Monroney Sticker actually still on the window. Always removed prior to delivery I guess as part of detailing. But then in the past we always bought our cars from current inventory on the lot (so you could see what each car had included in it as you walked around). Our Teslas were the first custom ordered cars we've purchased.

Interesting topic. How much should software-only options like this be valued from an insurance point of view? Perhaps if the said software may actually cause the accident should it malfunction.

I expect the insurance to value the software options just like they do hardware options or wheel options or whatnot. I paid for EAP and FSD on my 3 and if it gets totalled, Tesla isn't going to refund me that cost or transfer those options to my next car. My car is theoretically worth more on the used market than one without EAP (FSD is a little more dubious value-wise at this point, but may eventually be worth something)

Obviously, I would still be getting actual cash value on those software options, so they wouldn't be paying me out $8000 or anything, but some adjusted amount for depreciation.

If the software somehow caused the accident, it would be irrelevant to the appraisal value of the wrecked car. That would end up in a fight between Tesla and my insurance for who owns the liability for the accident.
