News from Samsung on increased Li-ion battery capacity:-
http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/english/NEWS_EN/20071121/142869/
".....a current capacity of 3,080mAh at the terminal voltage of 3.0V and an energy density per unit volume of 695Wh/L were achieved, the companies said."
695???
About three times the present value for Li-ions? Would give 600 mile range? Got to be a catch.
But reduced potential to 3V from typical 4.15 is an issue. The present ESS shuts down when cell P.d.'s hit 3V! Would need to re-design the numbers of cells in series / parallel.
Let's hope high volume manufacture is cost effective
