I had been communicating with Indiana legislators including Senator James Arnold who is one of the sponsors of the “anti-Tesla” bill HB1254 which will be considered again this summer. I had provided them with a link to the Forbes article Strangling Innovation: Tesla vs. “Rent Seekers”: Link to Forbes Article

Below is a response I received today from Senator Arnold’s assistant:

    Hi Curt,

Thanks for sending. I couldn’t have said it any better myself.

“Rent seekers are individuals or organizations that have succeeded with existing business models and look to the government and regulators as their first line of defense against innovative competition.”

    Sincerely,
    Michelle S. Moody
    Caucus Assistant
Office of Senator James R. Arnold

Seems like the politicians are starting to understand the anti-competitiveness of these bills!

The've always understood. No matter what they say in public, they're going to protect their auto dealer cartel donors from competition.
