This article brought my attention to that petition. The fact that a Jeep Wrangler with only 21 miles of range gets the $7500 tax rebate, meanwhile a Model Y with 300 miles of range, does not qualify.... it's absurd. Hopefully signing the petition will make an impact.

The fact we are supplementing luxury vehicle purchases at all is absurd.

And can anyone point me to a single change.org petition that has done…anything?

This IRA Tax Credit is in fact a way to subsidize hybrids cars, not EVs.

US Government is principaly intrested in:
- reducing polution in cities but not concern about the whole decarbonization,
- keeping running legacy factories, making ICE engines and gear boxes, to avoid major layoff and factories closing,
- keep oil industry happy and collect taxes from the sale of gasoline, while EVs could get free charging at home from solar panels !!!

Not only that it allows the continued use of oil/gas instead of reducing the consumption of oil/gas. In reality the IRA should just drop the subsidies, the amounts are ridonkulous. Who wants to pay for this with your taxes? And oil/gas industry already has a $5B subsidy on top like wtf?

The credits as they are are in opposition to the ICE bans in 2035 (Cali) and US in 2045 or was it 2050, no matter.
