I'm getting a Chrome message that Insideevs.com contains malware and is blocked. went there yesterday and it was fine. Anyone else seeing this? Anyone know what's going on?

Hi, I run 'things' at InsideEVs,

One of our ad providers apparently hosted an ad that google didn't like, so it got flagged and that is where warning is coming from.

We have a ticket out with them to get the flag taken down, but it may take a few hours. The site is okie-fine...but lets just say that ad provider is no longer with us, 1 slip-up is one too many.

So you are saying Google is the bad guy here, that no visitors were malwared? [verb: to be infected with malware]

I'm curious what OS was susceptible to this.

Not at all, google was just looking out for its users.

The problem got generated by MadAdsMedia, one of our ad providers - according to the company 7.8% of their clients had this problem in relation to google.

Whatever it was - happened just after noon, and they had the issue resolved by 3:45pm. They sent out the a "whoops we had an issue now it is fixed - apologies letter".

We send them a "that is not acceptable" reply, removed their ad block completely because we don't want this issue ever again, to say it is not good for the site to have that warning there for any amount of time is an understatement. The google warning can take several hours to clear, but we have already been in touch with them.

    Any noun can be verbed.

Ad servers are the most common vector for malware on any given website. It is depressingly common.

The sites home is down again... shows that parallels thing.

And if you have a Mac, malware or any types of viruses are not an issue, worry or concern

    Works for me now.

(mod note: yes, this is a blatant move to steer the thread back on-topic - please take note)

Still down for me. In the mean time i've bookmarked their twitter account because the individual links to their posts work but the sites home doesn't.

InsideEV apparently does not screen adverts (for malware) published on its webpages but relies on Google to do this.

(Mod note -- split the rest of this post into the new thread: OSes and virus/malware susceptibility)

    Works for me too.

Obviously people do want to discuss the OS thing, so maybe move those posts to off topic?

Edit: deleted response to wycolo to avoid OT post.
