Not officially allowed, but sure, you can install a 14-50 pigtail on an HPWC. They sold them with a 14-50 preinstalled back in Gen2 days, at least for a little while

Not clear why you want to go to all this trouble though. The j1772 adapter will make your Clipper Creek unit work fine with the Tesla.

Tesla also sells a 'Corded Mobile Connector' which has a 14-50 adapter hardwired.

Sophias_dad, thanks for the sanity check, and after further review, I think I'll keep the CC and continue using the J1772 adapter. The CC is rock solid and has a 25 ft cord, I get 37 mph from it.​
