Just sold our Volt so we want to replace our Clipper Creek EVSE with a Tesla HPWC, it’s plugged into a NEMA 15-50 outlet, so can I install a pigtail on the WC so I can use and keep my NEMA outlet.

Not officially allowed, but sure, you can install a 14-50 pigtail on an HPWC. They sold them with a 14-50 preinstalled back in Gen2 days, at least for a little while
Not clear why you want to go to all this trouble though. The j1772 adapter will make your Clipper Creek unit work fine with the Tesla.
Tesla also sells a 'Corded Mobile Connector' which has a 14-50 adapter hardwired.

Sophias_dad, thanks for the sanity check, and after further review, I think I'll keep the CC and continue using the J1772 adapter. The CC is rock solid and has a 25 ft cord, I get 37 mph from it.
That's exactly what I'm going to do. My last (that I sold to buy the bigger one) is over 6 years old and still going strong. Guess Made In The USA still has some value.

I'm running the Aero one that came with my 2017 volt that's hardwired and I have a 15-40 for when the other ev arrives
