Installed! Austin MY C Pillars for Parcel Shelf

Had a service appointment to take care of a couple of warranty issues. They had the parts I ordered for the shelf and I just had them do the install there. I think it was about $130 for service. He told me they had to replace the seatbelt bolts, but they didn't replace the foam. I was able to take my original c-pillar interior parts with me (had to ask for them as they were going to be taken by the service center).

which service center was this? Buena Park refused to order the parts for me.

Santa Ana service center off S Standard Ave. They ordered the parts for me without any questions and when I asked them to install the day of, they were happy to do so. I asked them to swap out the foam, but it looks like they didn't. Also, I don't think they installed the two c-pillars properly as one part of each side is not seated correctly and won't push into their clips. There's quite a bit of rattling on the left side as well and after opening my rear doors, the weather sealing weren't properly put back into place... I've had good luck with Santa Ana though when compared to the Irvine service center. I will never take my Tesla back to Irvine even though it's about 1-2 min from my home...

I just installed my updated pieces this weekend. First one took me about 45 minutes, other side about 15 minutes.

I opted to pull the bottom trim out as well, it just made it easier to get stuff to line up properly.

Tools were a 3/8" Ratchet, 18" extension, a 15mm socket, and plastic trim removal tools.

I also put some blue locktite on the seatbelt bolts. They definitely had something on them, but it was clear, they came out tough but went back in quite easy.

Watching the CCS upgrade video is a must do. After that it's just lining things back up and using a firm thump to get them seated properly.

I would say this is a GREAT time to install a couple square feet of sound deadening material on the bare metal pieces of the rear fenders and wheel wells. If you're in there already, it's pretty easy.

Did you call in? I am unable to select that service center because my app keeps defaulting to mobile service out of Buena Park.

I set up a service appointment for Santa Ana and then sent a message through the app asking if I could order the parts. You should be able to select which service center you would like to go to that are close to your location. I'm able to choose from Lake Forest, Irvine, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Buena Park (located in Irvine).

Thanks, I just set up an appointment with just "order parts for cargo cover" and it would let me pick Santa Ana. If I add any more details such as the part# it automatically switch me to mobile service only, I don't know why.

Santa Ana Service Center (in SoCal) was able to order for me and do the install. I asked them to hold initially since I planned to install it myself, but after needing to be there for service anyways, I asked them if they could install it there. The guy who helped me said he doesn't see why they wouldn't be able to. Got it installed, but part of the driver side c-pillar wasn't installed correctly (it won't pop into place and rattles a lot while driving). I'm debating if I should just fix it myself or have them do it when I go back for my final (hopefully) service appointment.
How much was the install fee?

Do you guys know if parts 1661180-00-A, 1661181-00-A (upper trim C pillar parts) would fit with the ‘old’ 2022 lower trim? My service centre is saying that these parts supersede parts 1622252-98-B (SP, C Pillar Upper Trim, ASY, LH), 162253-98-B (SP, C Pillar Upper Trim, ASY, RH). Thanks!

I once asked the same question.

Hi all,

I ordered three parts (two C pillar panels and shelf) and only have the shelf delivered.
Actually I am having some difficulties with ordering C pillar panels from Tesla SC.
Part No (1622252-98-B & 1622253-98-B) are no longer listed in Tesla database.

Instead I found these two part numbers.
C PILLAR UPPER TRIM, ASY, LEFT HAND1661180-00-AOver-the-Counter(No VIN)
C PILLAR UPPER TRIM, ASY, RIGHT HAND1661181-00-AOver-the-Counter(No VIN)
Could someone confirm whether these will work?

I'm frustrated. I ordered in app and received estimate etc for the necessary parts. Messaged advisor and in the back forth he advised last part (the shelf) would be till the 3rd so wpushed my appointment to the 6th.
I arrived and was told 2 things:
A) the parts were never ordered because
B) the parts won't fit because there's no such thing as a Austin retrofit to a Fremont build....
Huh? 🤔
After some friendly debate with the service manager he understood that this was in fact possible although they've never done it and therefore they don't know anything about it but if I wanted he can sell me the parts over the counter and they can try installing it or I can do it myself...
Perfect....now another 2 week wait.
Now, I still don't understand how the parts weren't ordered initially
Now I have no ideawhat part # is correct as the SC manually (re)entered my order with these parts:

1494608-00-H (L)
1494609-00-H (R)
And
1641293-00-D

My original request was for:

1622252-98-B (SP, C Pillar Upper Trim, ASY, LH) 162253-98-B (SP, C Pillar Upper Trim, ASY, RH) 1641293-97-B END ITEM, PARCEL SHELF

Which is correct?

Pictures are in reverse order.

Start in the back and work your way forward.

I can answer any questions.
