I’m sure this has been discussed before but would like to look at a video on installing the front license plate bracket, I want to do the factory installed bracket and do not mind drilling holes.
Ok, no answers is there a way to use the factory bracket and use adhesive instead of screws. I want it exactly where the original bracket is installed.
I would try some 3m double sided tape that stuff is surprisingly strong 3M Super Strong Automotive Attachment Tape, double sided tape, foam tape, 3M mounting tape
I have carbon fiber pieces on my exterior that have held fine with that stuff ..but u need the automotive version ...3m has many different types of double sided ..good luck !
Also another option is do like this guy did with long bolts he was actually selling these on forums but you can make with some long bolts from Home Depot tesla model x (2016-18) license plate holder No-Hole/No Stick Removable | eBay
One thing to consider is that the license plate bracket is held by bottom part only with 3 screws. If you use adhesive I am not sure if it’s strong enough without support for the top half of the bracket.
I'm taking a lazy path and saw this one on eBay for $13 after shipping. It has 5 star reviews. I'll let everyone know how it is when it arrives this weekend.
Merrill I removed the nose cone and put it on my wooden workbench face down. On the inside you'll see 3 raised circles that correspond to the mounting holes on the bracket. I used 3 half inch hex washer self-drilling sheet metal screws. I drilled into the center of the center hole from the inside. Flipped it over and attached the bracket. I then drilled the other two from the front and installed the screws. The supplied plate screws were too long for the top holes so I just used the bottom two holes. It's on there good and snug. In the future I may drill the top two holes so I can use the other two screws. Here's the mounting screw I used.
