That initial ‘zero’ degradation is probably just the top battery buffer being eaten into from new. Virtually all EVs lose around 5% true capacity after initial battery formation and use. In my 2018 S I get warnings if the battery is held at 90% for a couple of days without SoC falling lower. Something between 75 and 80% probably gives a happy medium for better cycle lifetime. Realistically it won’t be the loss of range that curtails a specific Tesla’s utility.
