Interior Upgrade / Re-Trim

Afternoon all.

I am in the fortunate position of having bought one of the first Model S Raven Performance models in November 2019, fortunate since it was the first of the next gen but it was the last quarter they ever gave away free supercharging for life.

So basically I am now stuck with this car until the doors fall off, as who in their right mind would sell a car which has free fuel these days. 28,000 miles for free so far (yes I know always supercharging is bad for battery but I accept that).

Anyhow, given the seats are made of pleather, my drivers seat looks like a 350,000 old minicab seat, all stretched and horrible. Would have expected more from a £105,000 car but that's for another thread.

So I intend to refresh it early next year, which will give me the feeling of a new car without buying one. Mechanically, aside from 6 service visits for new motors and other things in the first 5 months it has since been flawless for 2.5 years.

On the list is a PPF colour change (mine is solid black) into a nice dark metallic blue.

Also a re-trim of all the seats into a nice dark brown leather (without the P).

Has anyone on here done this and have any idea on suppliers or price? The wrap will be around £4k, I am not worried about door shuts etc since I will go for a nice dark blue which won't be so bad against the black.

But seat re-triming could be ugly price wise. Any thoughts?

There may be options for the seats such as just middle panels instead of full upholstery. Also may be possible to find an auto upholsterer that usually does mobile repairs that's up for a bit of extra income if'n you were able to part with a seat for a few days for him to do at home??

That was my first thought too. When I traded in our 2018 MX with nearly 60k miles, the white seats were still like new. Not a crease or stretch mark in sight. So I too am intrigued by this at only 28k miles.

I will grab a photo later but when it was new there was a big fold in the centre of the seat (should not be there). They “fixed” it at a service visit but then it has just sagged and sagged and now looks horrid. I am only 85Kg before the funny comments come in!

I could ask Tesla to look at it again but unless there is a warning light on they tend to do nothing in my experience.

I could also try sorting it myself.

My understanding was the last free supercharging cars were the first quarter of 2017... all the specialists have told me this. So I'm very puzzled how you've ended up with a Raven with free supercharging for life?! Please spill the beans!!

I believe that from 2017-2019 free supercharging was still offered, but it was limited to the first owner of the car. So as far as the secondhand market is concerned, what the specialists told you is correct. But there will still be original owners of later cars who have free supercharging.

EDIT: And google seems to suggest that those later cars with free supercharging for the first owner may have been limited to cars that were purchased using a referral code. But maybe that was only for the Model 3? But anyway, definitely some cars were sold with free supercharging for the original owner only.

There weren't any Model 3s with free Supercharging for life ... used to get 1000 miles with referral code (original owner).

My September 2019 Model X Long Range came with free supercharging for the first owner (no referral code required). I cannot transfer it to another car, neither can I transfer it to another owner. When I sell the car the free supercharging disappears.

Mine was Q4 2019, Tesla did the free supercharging in the UK for Model S purchases for that quarter only. Non transferrable, when I or the car go, it goes too. Honestly its the only reason I still have it; I do really want a new Range Rover but with free fuel I will drive this until the doors fall off!
