Inventory and "used" model 3's

Any thoughts on when inventory and/or used model 3's will show up on Tesla/Tesla CPO?

There are plenty of inventory NEW units, if thats what you are asking about. I suspect that, because you said "and / or used" that you are looking for used or DEMO inventory units, with miles, at a discount from the new car price.

If thats the case, I suspect that there will start to be some in the first few months of next year. Now, In my opinion, LEASING demo cars is a quick way to save some cash. I would never BUY a demo car though, at least not for myself (not unless it was discounted enough to count for all the people who had got into it to test drive it, and for all the test drive "lets see what this thing can really do!!!" test drives which is likely 95% of them.

Normally this is good advice- but with an EV it's pretty hard to hurt the thing by romping on it during a test drive

When I bought my car, I was offered a car that had been the showroom display model at another store. They offered me $1500 off if I wanted that one. It was being sold as new with <50 miles on it. This was in addition to several other inventory units that they had on offer. The showroom model had 19" wheels which I didn't want, and the Tesla rep said that they weren't able to swap them for the 18" Aeros. If they had, I probably would have bought it, as it was Red, which was a color that I wanted. Not sure why they wouldn't swap the wheels with another car that had the 18" wheels.

Not sure, but could be because the Monroney sticker has the wheels on it, and unlike a dealer who could give you a contract or have you sign something saying they swapped it, tesla likely isnt setup for that. Just a guess though.

A) Never got a Monroney on my car, and didn't see one on any of them.
B) For other inventory cars, they did give me the option to swap wheels, since I wanted the 18" wheels and a lot of cars they were finding had the 19" wheels.

I almost took the Red car, thinking I could probably find somebody on a forum like this that would be willing to work out a swap.

The monroneys are not on the car, but the cars have them (or, they have files with them). I was given a monroney on regular paper vs sticker when I picked up. I had to reject that car, and they had another car in stock with my same build they had and I decided to take that one. Obviously different vin and paperwork, and I forgot to ask them for my monroney on pickup.

I emailed my delivery specialist and asked for it and he emailed it back to me in 1-2 days. I think they have to have something to give you with the specs by law. Its only an 8 1/2 by 11 paper but it has the car options and stuff on it. I save those, and on leased vehicles I give them back to the dealer for the next owner, and if I sell a car I give it to the new owner.

Probably left over from when it was harder to get car options via online vin decoders etc... if you have maintenance records and your monroney, easier to get a decent price for your car as it shows you are (probably) taking care of it.

Anyway back on topic to OP thread.... I think january / feb for dealer demo's

That's actually illegal (for cars sold as new) but Tesla seems to be doing it on a widespread basis and nobody seems to be caring about it.

I know, thats why I asked for it. I dont know if its illegal not to have the sticker on the car though. I know every car has to have one, but if (for example) you order a BMW, when it comes in they dont put the monroney on the car, they just give it to you with your paperwork like tesla is doing. I have done this (ordered a BMW) and know they do it that way on an ordered one.

I suspect (but dont know for a fact) that they likely have to provide it to you, but it doesnt have to be on the car specifically if its ordered. Since right now, all teslas are considered to be "ordered" as they are not "on a lot" thats likely how they justify it. Again I dont know and I am not a lawyer or anything close to it, just guessing based on my ordering cars experiences.

It's illegal for them not to affix it to the window in the first place, and anyone to remove the sticker from the window prior to actual delivery to the end user.

So if it's already off when you pick your (new) car up the dealer (showroom/gallery/whatever) broke the law at least once, maybe twice.

Lots of dealers do it- but it's still in violation of federal law.

(FWIW my Lexus still had it on the window at pickup, my Tesla certainly did not- it didn't even have a correct one laying inside the car- I had to get a correct one on an 8.5x11 printer sheet from service a week later since the delivery location had no printer)

Here's the actual law-

15 U.S. Code § 1233 - Violations and penalties

Failure to affix the sticker to " to the windshield, or side window" results in a fine of up to US$1,000 per vehicle for each offense.

Removal of the sticker "prior to the time that such automobile is delivered to the actual custody and possession of the ultimate purchaser of such new automobile" is a $1000 fine and up to 1 year in jail for each offense.

It’s easy enough to list them on EV-CPO, but since there’s no official listing of new or used Model 3s (yet), I really don’t know the source or disposition of these cars. So I’ll hold off on listing them for now. But my sources tell me that an official listing of available M3s is not far off.

Legally they can’t. Have to sell car as configured.

Same here discounts were minimal at best. I'd buy a demo since you stilll get tax credit, but 1.5K wont "make me move"

I just ordered an inventory car with a VIN in the 25xxx range. Great price since it had a little over 3700 miles. I'm a little bit concerned if these have the Gen 2 seats and the glass tint. I have seen those VINs have a production date around April-June timeframe. Hoping I made the right choice. My delivery date is on Saturday, the 29th.
