iPhone 12 Pro Max and charging

Today, with the mag safe case on, I slowly moved it 1/2 an inch at time, moving it around, replacing it on the pad, even tried upside-down. With about 20 tries, it did engage and charge twice. Both times it was right where you'd expect it should be if you placed the phone in the middle of the left side, with the case resting on that bottom lip. And once it was engaged, I was able to slide it around about 1/2 an inch in any direction and it kept charging. But once I picked it up and put it back down again, no charge. Until maybe 8 more tries later, it mysteriously engaged again. Not sure how to make sense of that. Maybe someone with more tech knowledge?

My car is currently downloading the new software update, I think 2020.48? I can dream that maybe it will fix this.

I was talking about pro max. I don’t have to do anything special. It charges every time with my new case and it never charged with MagSafe case.

Unfortunately I've tried a non-mag safe case with the mini and no dice. Originally assumed the 12 pro and mini were both having the same type of charging problem, but sounds like it's a different issue. Or just exacerbated for the mini.

The factory charging pad just comes right out. Here’s what is holding it place. Two tabs on the bottom.

I might try one of the pads that can hold the phone horizontally that way I can better position the phone to match the coil. Might work for your situation too.

Please reply back with what you end up installing and if it works. I decided to try this out and leave the charging pad be for now. But removing it looks easier than I thought, so might go that route if this isn’t ideal:

I take it back. I was pre/ordering the Jeda USB hub for December and noticed that they sell a wireless charging pad that says it works with all new iPhone 12 models. So I just ordered it. It says it’s in stock and ships in a day. I’ll post back to confirm it works when I get it.

I ordered it the other day, should deliver by Friday. One thing to note, I believe i needed the USB-C to micro-usb to make this work. The back of the pad is two micro-USB ports. So i ordered a cable from Amazon just in case.

It’s rare to have micro usb. Maybe it’s usb c already?

+1 iPhone 12 Pro Max w/ Apple MagSafe Leather case fails to charge. Charges with case removed. Hoping a firmware fix.

My other wireless chargers work OK w/ MagSafe leather case

^^^ Yes, it works fine in both vertical and landscape orientations with a non-MagSafe transparent case.

So I’ll just need one USB C to micro cable when mine arrives? It looks like it needs two connections. In that case, nowhere to plug the USB drive in for sentry. Or do you already have a USB console so you can plug in multiple USB devices? I ordered a Jeda USB console but it doesn’t ship for a month.

I have the Skyline hub with LG cup holder. So it has four USB A ports. Works fine with sentry and the right Port wireless charger on the Jeda pad.

Can you check if one side will charge if you only plug in one of the connectors? I may have to use it that way until my Jeda USB hub arrives next month.

Yes one side does right, other side does left and bottom.
