Someone had to ask. Any comments about whether the Premium Center Console fits the iPhone 6 models? Any Apple employees tried it out? It it would be a bit of a disaster if it didn't...
it should work fine, since the iPhone 6 is thinner. It might even work with a case on the phone now. Even if it did not, the Lightning connector insert can be swapped out with a different design pretty easily, just as it can be swapped with a USB plug or no plug.
I'm not sure about the tesla cci but the dimensions for the phone caddy on the evannex console (http://evannex.com/products/center-console-insert-cci) are: 4.0”W x 2.0”L x 2.75”D; the dimensions for the iPhone 6 plus are: 6.2"Lx 3.1"W x 0.28"D; iPhone 6: 5.44"L x 2.64"W x .27"D. I haven't seen any dimensions on the tesla center console. So it looks like either will fit in theirs for sure.
I've just installed mine today, although i'm using a iphone 5, I'm sure it fits the iPhone 6 or any other phones. It's just a dock with lightning cable.
Has anyone else's iphone 6 stopped charging in their center console? It worked perfectly for the first 6 weeks I owned the car but two weeks ago, I started getting "unsupported device" notifications on the phone and now it just doesn't work anymore! Pretty frustrating for a $600 charger.
As far as I can tell, this happens with every 12V adapter I've used. Sometimes powercycling the phone helps.
It may also be that the cable is going bad. I have had that happen multiple times before and it resolved with a new cable.
Mine works like a charm. I need to make sure it it fully seated. But with the Apple leather cover, my iPhone 6+ works like a charm. I really like how I can just say "Hey Siri" and the phone will do anything I ask. Except make my car payment.
But isn't the iPhone sitting backwards with the screen away from you? Looks like the Tesla version of the console works better in that regard?
Apple has a special finicky charger requirement so I'm not surprised that there are issues. Apple devices only work reliably with genuine Apple kit. They don't make it easy for anyone to compete.
My iPhone 6 with leather case works flawlessly in the tesla console. No issues with charging, clearance etc.
