For those on 12.1:
go to settings and search for restrictions open content & privacy restrictions and enable it. Open allowed apps and disable carplay

Dont bother deleting apple music. I don't even have it. It plays songs that are stored on my phone.

Not so sure about that. It did it in my Volvo for a long time on Pre IOS 12.
And a simple google search will show it as a huge discussion on the net.
Regardless of model car.
It’s hard to say which is the culprit.

I’ll also add. As others have tried I turned off CARPLAY on my iPhone (ios12) and I now have only seen the issue for me a couple odd times. For the most part it has now stopped. It does seem to trigger and start again once in awhile if i have just used voice Siri or maybe listened to a recorded message that caused the phone to play through the cars system.
But typically getting in car lately to drive it’s gone and not happening. So it helped somewhat

Thanks but I don't see an option for Music there...then again I'm not in the vehicle, will try again.
Confused......where do you show this “settings / notifications / music / set to off” ?

I guess I’m missing something then because I show no music option inside the notifications menu

I tried turning off notifications for music in my iPhone Xs but it still starts playing (silently) whenever I enter the car and Bluetooth connects. A bit annoying, but hopeful it gets fixed before long.

I have the same issue but just noticed that when I come home my music plays on Apple TV too. I wonder if this is Tesla big or iOS 12.01?
Ok. I’d like to hear eveyone’s thoughts on this. My phone plays music in the car after any phone utilization. If I make a call, I get a short burst of music until I get back to the radio. If I use Siri, I get the same.
Now, here’s something I discovered today. All of this is only if I’m wearing my Apple Watch. No Apple Watch, no problem. Does anybody else have this correlation?

I'm still on v8.1 and have had this issue for months. I found out when I got my cell bill to find out I had streamed over 20GB of data on my 3GB plan.....
