IRO DashCam - Model S AP2 unboxing

No updates I am aware of. Only on when car is on. Not on while parked. Works well for my purposes. I have insurance for vandalism... Can’t imagine I would need proof for my insurance company nor do I invision perusing someone myself on the basis of video evidence. Just want to document & share driving experiences like this:

Other dadhcam videos I have posted:

Great info - Thanks.
I found the IRO Dashcam for my X, the other day, and were looking for info. I found your thread here, and I´m having same thoughts as you as to how my cam should look and work (sorry for my Danish English).

Do you know if IRO offers a "battery pack" to their product?

In our Danish Tesla FB group, the comments are like above, that people wants the cam to be active also when parked.
The Blackvue comes with the battery pack as option, to prevent power off, when parked.

If IRO doesn´t provides it - do you then have info over other products like it, that could be mounted in between the Tesla wiring and the IRO-cam, so it looks like the original IRO without wiring, but doesn´t power off?

I got the same one as OP has

Video quality is average (sub 100 dollar amazon dash cam quality)

But fully integrated makes money worth

It doesn’t have parking mode but I see blackvue wiring to 12V battery might cause battery die faster than usual

And blackvue battery box isn’t cheap, damn it

Not the case. You don't need any additional or accessory "battery box" to run dashcams 24x7 in the Tesla. The batteries can handle it no problem. These unit pull such little energy it's really not needed. The 12v accessory battery is frequently recharged from the traction pack, so it can never go dead like an ICE car battery can.

You can hardwire the camera for 24/7 use.
Use the red wire for +12Volt.
Use the black wire for -12Volt.
See pictures.
Works great on my 2018 model S 75D.

Greatings grom the Netherlands.

If there is no problem connecting to full-time 12 V, I see no reason not to do so. Did your new instructions mention that you could connect either way?

Given 24/7 capability and integrated factory look this unit would be the way to go unless a two channel system is desired.

Looks like Model S AP2 version on ebay is sold out. Any idea when there will be more available?
Contact the seller taxusdvr via eBay. He may still be able to sell you one. He is very chatty. Although his English isn’t great. I suspect he may be using Chinese to English translation software.
You can send him a message through another item like:
